Nuevo Imparcial.- The exhibition : Zurbarán a new look : will give visitors of the Museum in the summer of 2015 a select tour of works of this Extremadura artist from his first commissions to the key works of his mature period; a new view of one of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age thanks to the presence of unreleased or recovered canvases ,discovered in recent years ,that have never been exhibited in Spain.

A contemporary of Velázquez ,the realistic and mystical appearance of his painting and his peculiar way of addressing these various issues have combined to convert him into a major painter who has been recognized in modern paining trends .

He is exhibited together with the works of some his best disciples, gathered in one of the galleries, as well as that of his son, Juan de Zurbaran, represented by his refined still life’s.

Mythological works and portraits complete the extensive production of religious themes throughout the seven rooms of the exhibition, jointly curated by Odile Delenda, art historian and specialist painter and Sea Borobia, head of Old Master Paintings of the Thyssen -Bornemisza
