Madrid attracts 52.5% of foreign investment in 2014

Nuevo Imparcial.- Madrid gained in the first nine months of 2014 an amount of foreign investment of 10.181 million euros, representing 52.5% of the national total, according to data released by the Registry of Investments of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The information provided reflects the leadership of Madrid in both foreign investment and Spanish investments abroad. The investment abroad in the third quarter of 2014, by the Community of Madrid exceeds 1.809 million euros, representing 44% of the total Spanish amount. «These policies, together with the political and fiscal stability of the agile and dynamic Madrid society and economy , create a climate of trust and friendly environment for international investors,» said the Minister of Economy and Finance, Enrique Ossorio .

Leadership in the last ten years

In the period 2003-2014, 119,518,000 euros of investment received from abroad was concentrated in Madrid, and it leads the regional ranking far ahead of the second region which is Catalonia, with nearly four times the Catalan regions amount. Similarly, the Community of Madrid has become, since 2003, the region with the highest participation in Spanish investment abroad.
