Museo del Prado houses ten works by Picasso until September 14

Nuevo Imparcial.- the new President of the Community of Madrid, Ignacio Gonzalez, and the president of the Royal Board of the Prado, José Pedro Pérez-Llorca, today signed a collaboration agreement for the holding of the exhibition 10 Picassos from the Kunstmuseum Basel, which can be seen from 18 March to 14 September in the Gran gallery.

The exhibition includes ten works from the Swiss museum and by the painter from Malaga dated between 1906 and 1967. This time, Picasso returns to the central gallery of the Prado Museum, thanks to the exceptional agreement with the Kunstmuseum Basel. This institution houses an outstanding collection in quantity and quality of works by Picasso and is one of the first European museums which began to acquire works by the artist since 1951.

The ten Picassos in the exhibition are certainly the most outstanding works of the artist in the Swiss museum collections and the ten constitute exceptional examples of his creativity, since the summer of 1906. His Iberian period prior to the investigations that would lead to Cubism – to the very free and somewhat melancholic works of Picasso end of 1967.

The works include two brothers; Man, woman and child; Breads and fruit bowl with fruit on a table; The amateur; Woman with guitar; Seated Harlequin; Woman with hat sitting in an armchair; Girls to the bank; Courbet; Venus and Love; And the couple.
